JSR Acquires Medical Device Certification of Holter Electrocardiograph and Starts Test Marketing in the Digital Health Field

Products

JSR Corporation (CEO: Eric Johnson "JSR") has acquired medical device certification for a Holter monitor, which utilizes digital technology to prevent severe patient symptoms and will start test marketing to use it at clinics.

The Innovation Acceleration Department of the JSR Group aims to reduce medical costs and improve the quality of life (QOL) of the elderly in response to social needs. We’re working to integrate digital technologies with the materials, manufacturing and quality assurance technologies of the JSR Group and to put digital health into practical use for treatment, prevention and realization of personalized medicine. As part of our activities, we have developed the world's thinnest and lightest class of Holter Electrocardiograph (HeartnoteTM: Medical Device Certification Number 302 ACBZX00015000), which can be easily attached to a patient and used to screen and diagnose arrhythmia without the burden of examination. Since this device is cordless and waterproof, it is possible to use it continuously for up to seven days by simply attaching it to the chest. Therefore, we believe that the detection frequency of circulatory diseases, such as paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (Arrhythmia that causes cerebral infarction), will increase since these events are difficult to detect with only
24-hour monitoring, which is performed in conventional tests. This initiative is the result of a joint development program with the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center and will be presented at the 84th annual scientific meeting of the Japanese Circulation Society *.

The JSR Group believes that the newly developed HeartnoteTM can be used not only for the examination of circulatory diseases, but also that, with its own algorithm, it could be applied for the detection of mental diseases and lifestyle-related diseases, specifically in the areas of prevention, screening and diagnosis. In order to develop further applications, we will collaborate through open innovation in cooperation with a wide range of development and business partners.
