In OLED materials as well, JSR holds the leading market position in low-temperature passivation coat and light extraction materials. Improving energy efficiency at manufacturing facilities with low-temperature process materials

To reduce the environmental impact of display panel manufacturing, JSR is advancing materials for low-temperature processes. While conventional LCD and OLED panel production typically requires curing temperatures of 230°C or higher, JSR’s low-temperature materials can lower curing temperatures to 150°C. This can reduce energy use at manufacturing sites by approximately 10%, making a significant contribution to energy savings and lower CO2 emissions. By delivering performance comparable to conventional materials while enabling a more environmentally responsible manufacturing process, these products support both industrial efficiency and sustainability. JSR will continue to contribute to a more sustainable society and global environmental conservation through the broader adoption of low-temperature materials.

Addressing environmental pollution with PFAS-free materials

In response to rising concerns about the environmental and health impacts of PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), JSR is accelerating the development and supply of PFAS-free display materials. These materials retain the performance and durability of conventional products while reducing the release of substances that may contribute to environmental pollution. This helps lower environmental risks not only in manufacturing, but also in disposal and recycling. By bringing these materials to global markets ahead of tightening regulations, JSR is contributing to a safer and more sustainable display industry.

Promoting efficient resource use through the recycling of alignment layer materials

JSR has launched a recycling business for alignment layer materials, which are essential to liquid crystal displays, to help customers use materials more efficiently and reduce environmental impact. Residual materials and waste liquids generated during the production process have traditionally posed disposal challenges. By applying proprietary technology, JSR collects and repurifies these materials, then returns them to customers as high-quality alignment layer materials. This approach supports both effective resource use and waste reduction, helping to lower environmental impact while enhancing customer satisfaction. JSR will continue to advance its recycling technologies as it works toward a circular society.

Reducing device power consumption with more energy-efficient display panels

JSR contributes to lower power consumption in devices such as smartphones and laptop PCs through the development of highly energy-efficient display materials. Its passivation coat materials for high-transmittance LCDs and high-brightness OLEDs combine high transmittance, a low dielectric constant, and high heat resistance, making it possible to reduce power consumption while maintaining and enhancing image quality, including brightness and visibility. This helps extend battery life and ensures comfortable operation over extended periods. By combining energy efficiency with high image quality, JSR’s materials also help reduce CO2 emissions through lower energy consumption, supporting a more sustainable society.

Flexible OLED panels

Flexible OLED panels are making displays thinner and lighter, opening new possibilities in product design for foldable smartphones, wearable devices, and other applications. These advances significantly improve user convenience and comfort. JSR provides a range of materials for flexible OLED panels, centered on low-temperature curable insulating materials and thin-film encapsulation materials. Designed with polymers that cure at temperatures of 100°C or below, JSR’s low-temperature curable insulating materials offer excellent patternability and stable permanent film properties while minimizing thermal damage to flexible substrates and OLED devices. Its thin-film encapsulation materials feature a low dielectric constant, helping reduce attenuation and delay in high-frequency signals and supporting the development of thin, lightweight, bendable displays. By integrating these functions, JSR’s materials for flexible OLED panels create new value in everyday life.
