Tokyo, Japan – 3 April, 2023 JSR Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, CEO: Eric Johnson) is pleased to announce that it has entered into a joint development agreement and an equity investment agreement with Bacchus Bio innovation Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture, President and CEO: Mikio Tanji, hereinafter “Bacchus Bio innovation), Japan's first integrated bio-foundry, for the production of raw materials for products using biomass.

Bacchus Bio innovation is a biotech venture company from Kobe University that aims to create new industries in the "digital x bio" era. It focuses on the basic, elemental technologies and know-how that enable the production of useful substances by such means as microorganisms and metabolic analysis, which are the results of advanced research and development integrating computational science and synthetic biology. Through joint development with Bacchus Bio innovation, JSR will develop and produce raw materials for its key biomass products utilizing synthetic biology. JSR Group is committed to contributing to the preservation of the global environment by providing products and services that are effective in this regard. As a result of this activity, we expect to reduce our environmental impact by drastically reducing the amount of organic solvents used in manufacturing.
