Regarding Fire at the Yokkaichi Plant (11/16/2012 Follow-up Report)

We apologize again for the worry and trouble caused by the fire that broke out in the band dryer of our emulsion polymerization styrene-butadiene rubber (E-SBR) production line in our Yokkaichi Plant at 10:13pm on November 15, 2012.

We report below the status as confirmed at 4pm today, November 16th.

At 10:00am today an on-site inspection was conducted by relevant authorities and site-preservation orders were reduced to just the band dryer that was the origin of the fire. We will continue to operate our lines paying the utmost care to preservation of safety. The inspection was executed by the Yokkaichi City Fire Department, Yokkaichi Minami Police Office, Yokkaichi Labor Standards Inspection Office, and Yokkaichi Environment Preservation Division.

As to the origin of the fire, we are cooperating in every way we can with the authorities to elucidate it. We will continue to make reports appropriately as the situation develops.
