“Yokkaichi Kid’s CO2 Reduction Challenge” Engages Children in Energy Consumption Reduction

The JSR Yokkaichi Plant held the “Yokkaichi Kid’s CO2 Reduction Challenge” class on environmental topics for fourth-year elementary school students on June 14th, 2012 at the Shiohama Elementary School near the Yokkaichi Plant.

The students recorded their household water and electricity consumption for 6 days, made a reduction plan based on those results, and then implemented it for the next six days. During this time, they recorded and analyzing their data to see the results of their efforts. The “Yokkaichi Kid’s CO2 Reduction Challenge” class is put on in cooperation with Yokkaichi City. The students also participated in hands-on learning in the classroom, touching synthetic rubber samples of JSR products and performing a simple experiment with a polarizing plate..

The award ceremony recognizing those who displayed particular usage reductions will be held on July 17th.
