Yokkaichi Youth Accept Awards in Yokkaichi CO2 Diet Program

At Kawarada Elementary School, located near JSR's Yokkaichi Plant, held an award ceremony to recognize the efforts of children who participated in the Yokkaichi CO2 Diet Program. Individual children received awards recognizing their participation while classes received awards detailing the amount of CO2 they saved. This helped the children realize that great results can be reached even by doing something small everyday.
The Yokkaichi CO2 Diet Program is a social action program promoted by Yokkaichi City and various companies, with the purpose of raising environmental awareness among fourth- and fifth-grade elementary school students by having them go on a water and electricity "diet.".
The Yokkaichi CO2 Diet Program was launched last fiscal year and the JSR Yokkaichi Plant has been involved from the development stage. In FY 2010, a total of 200 students from Shiohama Elementary, Hinaga Elementary, and Kawarada Elementary Schools participated in the program.
