Students from Akita National College of Technology Visit JSR's Chiba Plant

CSR 10/21/2010
On October 21, 40 fourth-year students and two professors from the Department of Applied Chemistry at Akita National College of Technology visited JSR's Chiba Plant.

After being greeted by the plant manager and listening to a briefing about JSR and a plant profile, the students were divided into three groups, and visited the laboratory building, the main control room, and the BR (polybutadiene rubber) finishing plant. In addition, they were given the opportunity of experiencing the "static electricity simulation" in the room. The students were a little nervous at first, but the static electrifying experience seemed to help them relax.

Although some of the students had not heard of JSR, they became strongly interested in JSR after the plant visit and experiencing the learning program. During a Q&A session, the students asked a wide range of questions, such as what types of people are hired, whether any special qualifications are required for job applications, and in which areas female employees are working.

Student visits to corporate facilities are part of the curriculums at colleges of technology to help students decide on job placement and career paths. JSR will continue to cooperate in these activities.
