JSR supports its employees' volunteer activities for recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake

CSR 06/20/2011
TOKYO - June 20, 2011 - JSR Corporation (President: Mitsunobu Koshiba) announced today that it supports its employees' volunteer activities by using the Leave for Volunteer Activities System in areas damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake.

JSR has established "Basic Approach to Social Contribution" and announced its corporate stance in support of its employees' participation in voluntary social contribution activities in January 2009, and introduced the Leave for Volunteer Activities System in April 2009.

It has been more than three months since the Great East Japan Earthquake, and recovery and restoration activities in the damaged areas have gained momentum. Coupled with this, with an increasing need for volunteers, an increasing number of employees in our Group have requested to participate in volunteer activities. Based on this situation, JSR has prepared its unique volunteer program and has decided to recommend that its employees participate in this program by taking the volunteer leave system. To encourage their participation, JSR will cover all the actual expenses (transportation, accommodation, etc.) accompanying their participation in the program. This program will be implemented in cooperation with Public Interest Incorporated Association Civic Force.

An outline of the volunteer program this time is as follows:
  1.  Area of activity: Kesennuma City, Miyagi Prefecture
  2.  Period: 4-night-5-day activities twice in mid July, and more activities thereafter
  3.  Number of participants (estimated): 80
  4.  Activity details: Remove driftwood and refuse from the beach under the direction of the local headquarters for disaster control

Our Group has so far donated 100 million yen for disaster relief, and will also contribute to restoration and recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake by supporting Group employees and encouraging them to participate in recovery support volunteer activities this time.
