Current Status of JSR's Business Operations (As of March 24th)

CORPORATE 03/24/2011
Below is a report of the current status of JSR's business operations, as of 9am on March 24th (Thu), as a result of the Tohoku-area Pacific Coast Earthquake.

The situations at the Chiba Plant (located in Ichihara City, Chiba) and the Kashima Plant (located in Kamisu City, Ibaraki) remain the same as previously reported.

Supplies of some utilities, such as steam, have been interrupted and operations at the Kashima Plant have been stopped. If the situation remains unchanged for a period of time, it is possible that we will experience shortages of EP rubber (ethylene propylene rubber) beginning in the middle of April. Inventory levels of that product have been very low due to a tight demand and supply balance that existed before the earthquake happened.

Regarding fine products, such as photoresists for semiconductor manufacturing and LCD materials, concerns for securing raw materials and logistics were reported earlier, however, we do not foresee any issues at this time.
