TOKYO - 28 June 2010 - JSR Corporation's (President: Mitsunobu Koshiba) "JSR Group CSR Report 2009" has been recognized as an outstanding annual activity report, receiving recognition as a Notable COP (Communications on Progress) by the UN Global Compact.

Participating companies of the UN Global Compact are required to submit an annual COP (Communications on Progress) report which addresses the improvement and progress toward realizing the ten principles stated in the Global Compact. The Global Compact Office uses strict criteria to review details such as the actual activities undertaken during the past year, evaluates the results of activities performed and the transparency of reporting processes. Reports are considered to be particularly notable when such criteria are met and participants are thus recognized as a "Notable COP". In fiscal 2010 (from April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2010), reports submitted by ten Japanese firms (including JSR Corporation) were recognized as a "Notable COP" (as of 21 June 2010).

The UN Global Compact was established in 2000 under the advocacy of former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan. Ten principles concerning human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption were set forth in order for businesses and/or organizations to take voluntary actions. Participating companies are required to support the ten principles and take actions toward implementation. There are approximately 7700 participant companies/organizations, of which 113 are Japanese firms or organizations (as of 21 June 2010).

In April 2009, JSR Corporation endorsed the ten principles set forth by the UN Global Compact and became a participant. The "JSR Group CSR Report 2009" was submitted for the first time as a COP, and received recognition as a "Notable COP".
In order to continue operating as a globally-oriented business, JSR Corporation will maintain the four pillars of corporate ethics, responsible care, risk management and social contributions, acting with integrity as a good corporate citizen.
