Optical Materials DESOLITE
Optical fiber communication networks are the infrastructure of the communication society. JSR is a strong contributor to the development of this network. JSR has produced DESOLITE, an optical fiber coating which is curable in a short time with UV light. DESOLITE is used for coating each of the elemental optical fibers one by one.
OPSTAR
The OPSTAR series are opto-functional materials that are curable using ultraviolet (UV) light. They are used in a wide variety of applications. Compared with conventional thermo curable resins, UV curable resins -- which are typical examples of radiation curable resins -- have advantages that include: 1) higher productivity, 2) less heat exposure to base substances, and 3) environmental friendliness as no heat is used for the curing process. Therefore, in recent years they have been widely used as film materials for displays as well as for other applications.

The OPSTAR series are hybrid UV curable resins that offer good performance in a number of applications. This is achieved by combining the properties of nanoparticles such as silica together with unique binders using JSR proprietary developed materials such as urethane polymer and fluorine polymer.

[Applications] Low refractive index materials, high refractive index materials, antireflection film materials, hard-coating materials (with anti-smudge, and thin film, high strength properties), and solvent-free UV curable materials.
Micro Stereo-lithography System, ACCULAS
The ACCULAS micro stereo-lithography system captures 3-D CAD (computer-aided design) images as sliced data, and draws one layer (slice) of the picture at a time by using a laser to cure UV curable resins. By repeating this procedure, the optical-system creates solid 3-D models. The system can create 3-D micro structures with a resolution of 1 micron, up to 15 centimeters (equal to a 6-inch wafer). D-MEC also builds micro-models on a commission basis.

(Applications) MEMS (Microsystems/Micromachines), ultra-fine film surface modeling and electroforming of master molds for nanoimprint lithography
