| In 1960, JSR succeeded in producing SBR(Styrene-Butadiene Rubber) as the first domestic producer in Japan. Since then, JSR has accomplished the full range of product lines, starting from general purpose to specialty synthetic rubber, and succeeded in establishing the position of "Integrated Synthetic Rubber Maker," as one of the major Synthetic rubber companies in the world. In the fields of general purpose synthetic rubbers, JSR has succeeded in developing several types of rubbers, such as SBR (Styrene-Butadiene Rubber), BR (Butadiene Rubber), and IR (Isoprene Rubber) one after another. Utilizing our sophisticated proprietary technologies, JSR is maintaining a constant supply of products to its respective demand areas. Automobile tires are the biggest market for our general purpose synthetic rubbers. However, in accordance with the progress of the automobile industries, the auto-tire industries were forced to make necessary technical improvements to meet the required change of quality for auto industries. High-performance and fuel-efficient tires, for example, were introduced by the auto tire makers to cope with severe demands. For this application, the properties contradicting with each other such as higher grip power and less rolling resistance were required simultaneously. For this reason, JSR invented the new product called S-SBR (Solution SBR ) and as a result, contributed considerably to the auto-tire industries. In respect of specialty synthetic rubbers, JSR has introduced several grades, starting from NBR (Nitrile Rubber) to IIR (Butyl Rubber) and EPR (Ethylene-Propylene Rubber), consecutively. Through quality improvements as well as development, driven by the superior technology owned by JSR, the corresponding advancements of automobile parts became possible. |
