JSR to increase price of semiconductor material products 08/11/12
November 12, 2008 - Tokyo - JSR Corporation (President: Yoshinori Yoshida) announced today it will raise prices for g- and i-line "PFR series" photoresists globally by 6 to 10 percent effective December 1, 2008 in response to substantial increases in raw materials and utility costs.

JSR has been very aggressive on productivity improvements to offset price increases in raw materials, utilities and freight, which have risen continuously since last year.
However, despite these efforts to maintain pricing, it has become increasingly clear to JSR that they cannot offset the magnitude of these increases and must pursue the only remaining option of raising prices. For example, the price of key raw materials from China for g-line and i-line photoresists has increased by 10 to 40 percent aided in part by a shortage of the photosensitive base material.

The price of chemical products rose initially due to the increase of crude oil prices. It has remained high due to the significant uncertainty in the global economy. JSR decided it was necessary to increase prices in order to maintain the high standards of quality, technology and services expected by its customers.
