JSR Corporation ("JSR"; president: Yoshinori Yoshida; head office: Tokyo) holds a launch ceremony on December 5, 2007, for its new precision processing research facility at Yokkaichi Plant. The total investment in the new facility, including other buildings such as the administrative office, was approximately 4 billion yen.
JSR identified precision processing as a core business for the next-stage of its growth in its midterm management plan (JUMP2010).
The new precision-processing research facility will enhance the precision processing pilot facilities currently in operation. It will also help streamline ongoing internal research and development into precision processing technologies relevant to optical and functional materials.
JSR will continue to respond to increasingly sophisticated market needs by fully developing its infrastructure for acquiring and combining elementary precision-processing technologies, and by establishing a rapid product development system.
Research equipment has already been set up in the new facility, and full- scale operation is scheduled to begin this December.
