JSR Corporation ("JSR"; president: Yoshinori Yoshida; head office: Tokyo) has completed the second phase of construction of a plant for its subsidiary JSR Micro Taiwan Co., Ltd. (JSR Micro Taiwan) at the Central Taiwan Science Industrial Park, Yunlin Huwei Base, Taiwan. It has also started to deliver products from the plant to Taiwanese customers.
Full-scale local production has begun of protective coatings and photo-sensitive spacers for liquid-crystal displays (LCDs), in addition to color-pigment-dispersed resists, which were already being made locally. By setting up laboratories and production lines for samples, moreover, JSR has enhanced its technical support system for Taiwanese customers.
Companies have invested heavily in the manufacture of LCD panels in Taiwan, given continued expansion of the market for PCs and LCD TVs. To prepare for mid- and long-term expansion of demand for LCD materials, improvements to JSR's local production and supply system had become a necessity. JSR Micro Taiwan started commercial production of color-pigment-dispersed resists in September 2006. With the current enlargement, a full-scale local production system is in place for protective coatings and photo-sensitive spacers as well as color-pigment-dispersed resists. The enlargement follows completion of an earlier build-out for JSR Micro Korea Co., Ltd. (JSR Micro Korea), in the Science & Industrial Complex, Ochan, Chungcheongbuk-do, South Korea.
JSR has created a wide range of LCD-related products based on cutting-edge technology, such as color-pigment-dispersed resists, protective coatings, photo-sensitive spacers, alignment films, LCD retardation film (ARTON® film), anti-reflection coatings, and hard coating materials for display protection. JSR plans ongoing expansion of these businesses, together with its semiconductor materials and optical materials businesses, by responding accurately to customer needs for advanced technology.
Through maximal use of JSR Micro Kyushu's Yokkaichi Plant in Saga Prefecture, Japan, and of the new facilities for JSR Micro Korea and JSR Micro Taiwan, JSR will further strengthen its production and supply systems and expand its services to customers across Asia.
