The JSR Group upholds a corporate philosophy "to provide new materials, and through their values strive to contribute to the realization of an affluent human society (mankind, society and the environment)." To realize this philosophy, the group strives through its management policy "to enhance management efficiency, pursue corporate transparency and soundness, and to become a corporate entity trusted by its stakeholders."

The prime role of the JSR Group in society is to contribute proactively for the realization of a better society through its business. But at the same time, through the process of its activities, the group believes it is of great importance that it acts sincerely as a good corporate citizen and meets the trust of its stakeholders. The group's CSR activities are the means to achieve this goal, and are positioned as a management issue of paramount importance. With due diligence as a matter of course, providing good-quality products to customers, fair business transactions with clients, lessening the environmental burden on the global environment, regional symbiosis with regional societies, and creating pleasant workplaces for staff members, we are fully convinced that continuing our sincere efforts in these fields will guide the group to becoming a corporate entity trusted by society, and thus leads to enhancing our corporate value.

The JSR Group established CSR Conference comprising general managers from each department in 2003 to begin its CSR efforts. The CSR promotional system was rebuilt in June 2008, and under the auspices of the CSR Conference, four committees were incorporated to strengthen this effort: Corporate Ethics Committee responsible for establishing corporate ethics and strict due diligence; Responsible Care Promotion Committee with the aim of preserving the global environment and securing people's safety and health; Risk Management Committee tasked with further strengthening our risk-management system; and Social Contribution Committee for formulating and promoting the JSR Group's social contributions.

The group plans to further strengthen its efforts with regard to environmental management this fiscal year. With the inauguration of the Obama administration in the United States, and with COP15 set to decide on the next step for the Kyoto Protocol, the attitude toward the environment-especially toward global warming-is changing drastically. Under these circumstances, the group plans to further incorporate policies in the environmental field as a more proactive corporate strategy.

The JSR Group, as a globally active corporate entity and to declare its intention to practice responsible actions in international society, felt strongly to support the United Nations Global Compact initiative and became a signatory on April 1, 2009. With this, JSR as a group plans to further strengthen its global CSR activity.

This Web site was set up in January 2009 to introduce the JSR Group's CSR activities. Although the content is still being added, we hope it will help readers understand the group's activities. We also look forward to hearing your honest opinions regarding our efforts.
